Handcarved textured cup

A drinking cup/kuksa made using only hand tools and traditional techniques from locally sourced birch. It’s roughly carved while the wood is still green, then slowly let to dry over several days/weeks. After the drying process is complete i go over the whole object again to give it it’s final form and smooth finish. Baked in the oven and treated with linseed oil to give it a durable and nice golden brown finish.

It holds about 1,5 dl.

Wood is a living material and pouring boiling water straight into the cup is not recommended, always let the liquid cool down a bit before pouring it. Over time and with use it may dry out a bit, treat it with raw linseed oil on the outside and coconout oil on the inside if it feels dry.

Washing with soap is not recommended as its dries out the wood very quickly. Always dry it with a towel after every use.
